On September 29th we started our Welcome Week 2020! This year’s presentation of the network and all games were held outside to assure the health and safety of our participants and volunteers. Out of the 50 people from Batch 2020 that are present in Vienna, we were lucky to get to know 46 new students and spend the day with them in Prater!
On Wednesday, September 30th, it was time for a campus tour for all the new students who just moved to Vienna. Then we started the Scavenger hunt through the city! Each team got a quiz with questions about Vienna, places they had to find and challenges they had to fulfil in order to gain as many points as possible! Our President Yiannis was waiting at a secret spot for some additional questions, and our Vice President Isi was showing up at different places in the city with a few friendly helpers and had some surprises for those groups who were able to follow the hints. The winning group of the Scavenger hunt received a great price and we all ended the day with a nice dinner.
Our good luck with the weather for the Welcome Week continued and we were able to do Abgrillen at Donauinsel! This is traditionally the last BBQ of the year before the winter starts. On Thursday, October 1st, we met at the BBQ spot and enjoyed a really nice evening with great food and company!
In addition to these activities, we also wanted to include the students of the new batch who weren’t able to come to Vienna in person. On Friday, we hosted an online event at lunch time so the students in Vienna and the students abroad had a chance to get know each other over Zoom. Around 35 people joined and played some games in breakout rooms and finished the event with a short online pub quiz!
To sum up this year’s Welcome Week, a few students from Batch 19 and Batch 20 went for a little wine hiking on Sunday, October 4th, in Grinzing.
We want to thank everyone from the new batch who participated in the Welcome Week! 😊 We hope you really enjoyed it and had as much fun as we did!
Big thank you also to all the volunteers, we couldn’t have done it without you!
