On March 9th, 26 SCM students visited the regional headquarter of Alpla in Steinabrückl. Alpla is a family-owned business that ranks among the world leaders for plastic packaging solutions.
After a scenic bus ride and a little detour, the group arrived in time for the first presentation of Christian Reiter, Head of HR, Health & Safety CEE who introduced the company itself, its historical development and its range of products and capabilities. This very vivid presentation was followed by an SCM-related presentation held by Stanimir Demirev, Regional Supply Chain System Engineer CEE and Alumni of the SCM programme. The presentation covered all steps of Alpla’s supply chain with a special focus on its newly reconstructed IT infrastructure. Finally, Dr. Christian Buchgraber gave further insights into Alpla’s supply chain planning processes and warehousing. The event ended with a brief tour throughout Alpla’s production site and warehouse centered around the material flow of the respective goods.
