June 15th marked the day of the fourth annual SCM Network Alumni Day. 120 alumni, students and faculty gathered to reunite, exchange ideas and experiences and hear this year’s speakers. Within less than a month the event was sold out. Evidence to the active community that the SCM Network is lucky to have and the appeal that Alumni Day has for many of its members.
To start the day Program Director, Prof. Tina Wakolbinger, presented the latest developments in the Master’s program before Markus Vejvar (Batch 2013) gave his insights into the journey from being a consultant at AT Kearney to PhD student in Hong Kong and back. His presentation highlighted the differences and similarities he encountered across professions and cultures. Tanja Wiltschko (Batch 2014) then introduced us to the supply chain of Hofer, granting us an exclusive look behind the scenes of how a successful company sets itself up to tackle the problems of the future.
After a short break the former president Sandra Graf and newly elected president Gian-Andri Steiger recapped the past year and gave an outlook of what is to come for the SCM Network.
As the last alumni speaker at this year’s Alumni Day, Rami El Hachem (Batch 2015) guided us through his experiences from being an engineer in Lebanon, to being a Masters student in Vienna and a solutions specialist at DHL headquarters in Bonn.
As a new element at Alumni Day 2019, the next part of the day was designed for the participants to interact more actively with one another. In small groups, they were encouraged to discuss how they perceive the supply chain reality in their companies or how they would expect it. Could we add some sentence of the feedback here?
For the grande finale of the professional part of the event Group Planning Director of Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company (CCHBC), Gerhard Seidl, gave the keynote address He presented the strategic pillars of CCHBC and shared deep insights on past developments and future plans for one of the biggest bottling companies in Europe.
Before heading to dinner at “Glashaus” right next to campus, the participants enjoyed a glass of high quality Grüner Veltliner from Weingut Knoll in the sun. The steps outside the Learning Center once again proved to be a fitting frame for more networking and the beginning of the social part of the day. The food at the restaurant was excellent and so was the mood, since the warm summer night invited for long conversations on the terrace.
The SCM Network wants to thank our alumni speakers, keynote speaker, the institutes and sponsors for their passion and generosity to make this day so special. Special thanks goes out to our dinner sponsor AT Kearney, who’s contribution made it possible to take a big leap forward in terms of quality of the event.
Last but not least, a big thank you to you, Networkers! This is your day and the SCM Network is extremely proud that you made this day again so memorable! We look forward to seeing you next year!
