The new Batch 2017 was just arriving and we wanted to help them have a good start in this new stage. On Wednesday September 27th, 2017 a successful second edition of the Welcome Week started, with 3 full days of activities and lots of cool people. Once again we had a nice weather forecast and a super motivated group of people ready to make this week one to remember for the more than 40 new students of the Master in Supply Chain Management.
One by one the new Batch began to arrive: “Get your name tag, do some small talk and let the Welcome Week begin.”
The WelcomeWeek guides and the SCM Network board members were eager to meet and welcome the new colleagues. After a short presentation, the group moved to the Prater park. Facebookless stalking games part I began and little by little we got to know each other. After a lunch at L’Osteria, the new students were shown around the most important places in WU campus, such as our beloved D2 PC Lab. The day finished with a good second round of the Facebookless stalking games.
On Thursday: The Scavenger Hunt
Six groups, each consisting of ca. six new students and two guides, were sent into the city with a paper containing 22 missions. What better way to know Vienna than eating its typical desserts, drinking its famous beer, and going up and down the city solving riddles and taking pictures. After a lot of walking, all teams met at a Viennese restaurant where the first Stammtisch of the academic year took place. Alumni and colleagues were there to meet and welcome the new students.
On Friday, before a relaxing picnic, the new students received some tips for their new student life and got to know more about the SCM Network. To take advantage of the good weather before the cold, we went to Prater to enjoy the sun and some snacks. Everyone went home to prepare for the first party before classes began.
By the end of the week, no one was a stranger anymore. Eager to begin their studies, the Batch 2017 knew they were not alone in this start and that this was just the beginning of a really cool adventure ahead.
